Our program has been uniquely designed to be easily integrated into a participant’s daily life while customizing their dog’s skills to their needs. Danielle is a certified bodyworker, equine sports therapist and currently a student to become a registered massage therapist. Her education has provided invaluable medical knowledge that greatly benefits client care at LOH. It was Danielle’s Dog Pedro who was rescued from Mexico that proved that a rescue dog could be an assistance dog. Pedro is a rare gem he is trained to assist Danielle who is legally blind by guiding her around obstacles, keeps her safe from traffic and will even retrieve dropped objects that are out of Danielle’s range of vision. Despite being legally blind Danielle has been conceptualized the program that Leash of Hope follows, she spearheads the administration, leading the board of directors as chairman and program coordinator to manage the day to day operations, all while going to school and working in her practice as a bodyworker.
Tessa’s love for dogs started at a young age, growing up on a farm caring for many animals including dogs, horses, goats and cattle. Tessa uses a wheelchair to provide her with independence as she has spastic cerebral palsy, despite the potential limitations Tessa has taken it upon herself to adapt her education she has received from internships working with other organizations and has quite the skill set as a dog trainer. She spent years working under various accomplished trainers and organizations who have had education from institutions such as Bergin, ECAD. When she is not working with dogs she is constantly seeking self-education to sharpen her skills. Tessa also prides herself on the vast network of people in the rescue world that she works with to advocate for rescue dogs and acquire suitable puppies for the program.
Lily has been on the board with LOH since the very beginning. Her professional training as a photographer and innate ability as an event planner has been a valuable asset to our program. Lily has single handedly coordinated all of LOH’s large
fundraising events and other successful promotions such as Christmas cards and calendars. Today Lily
continues to develop new ways to fundraising for our program and build community involvement and has adopted one of the programs retired Service dogs.
Leash of Hope Assistance Dogs is a registered charity organization founded in 2014. We are training rescue dogs to be service dogs. We work together to create loving teams who support each other.
