Zara

Medical Assistance Dog

Zara was one of the 9 puppies who’s mama was about to be euthanized in California. Born under the founders kitchen table and raised by Michelle Sipl and Jeremie Bernardin.

I was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. At that time I knew having a dog would improve my life dramatically. I started doing research into different organizations that train PTSD dogs only to discover almost no services in Canada that train dogs for this purpose if you aren’t ex-military/paramilitary. Then I discovered LoH. AND they were local! About 6 months into the process of receiving a dog from LoH I discovered I am very hearing impaired. I brought this to their attention, understanding it will make the process harder. When I was introduced to Zara I was mortified. I specifically requested a medium sized dog because I believed big dog=big exercise and I’m not a energetic person! After being told, “Trust us, if it doesn’t work after 2 weeks we’ll swap her out.” Ok, I’ll trust them, they know better than I do about this. Well, I love my 70 lbs. lap monster to bits! My life had improved beyond measure having Zara in my life, I’m much more social and more likely to say Yes! when asked to go out, do things, etc. LoH has been a life saver for me. ~ Cindy
