Program Candidates
The ideal candidate is someone who values their independence whether they be an adult or a youth. Applicants who are accepted into the program will need to participate in the custom training of their dogs and be hands on with us and the training. This approach allows us to minimize the wait list time down to less than a year. We are unique in welcoming youths and their families to our program, but we firmly believe than an assistance dog can facilitate growth in a young person and allow them to evolve into an independent and ambitious member of society.
Who do we help?
We work with both adults and youth with a range of disabilities who feel an assistance dog may provide them with more independence. We provide assistance dogs in these areas:
- Psychological
- Mobility
- Vision
- Stability
Program Cost
The full cost of the program is $6,000, which includes the cost of the trained dog, equipment and a one year handler program with ongoing support. As many people with disabilities may be in lower income brackets, we can assist the potential client with fundraising through our non-profit status and guidance.
